Mountaineers Mater Salvatoris is a school of life. The intense and demanding reality of the mountain, with the effort involved in maintaining the pace of ascent and helping companions along the way to achieve a common goal, is a privileged means of forming the character of girls and young people in true Christian values and virtues.
The group of Mountaineers has as its motto “More, more and more” , an expression of its patron, Saint Francis Xavier. It reflects the constant spirit of effort and improvement that must characterize every mountaineer.
The mountain gives friendship; a pure, intimate, sacrificial, sincere, joyful friendship. A hike is not an excursion, it is taking a path, not always easy, to reach the top of a mountain. It is learning that life is like this path; sometimes hard, at others, pleasant, and that we bring the Virgin Mary as a companion in this desire to reach the summit, which is holiness.
The group’s main activities are excursions, school meetings and some two or three day camps that are organized throughout the year. In addition, during the months of June and July, one of the most anticipated activities takes place: the summer camp.
The sign of belonging to the group of Mountaineers Mater Salvatoris is the scarf. The virtues of the mountain spirit are represented by stripes and insignia, which recognize the effort made to live at all times the attitudes of an authentic Mountaineer of the Virgin Mary.
