extra-curricular activities

Extra-curricular activities, whether sporting or artistic, encourage and complement our students’ overall development.

To this end, Mater Salvatoris School offers a range of activities which turn leisure time into a creative space for personal enjoyment, through learning different skills.

In addition to physical education classes, the students  can take part in some of the sports activities offered by the school twice a week, these activities promote sporting values such as companionship, desire to improve or fair play.

    • Multi Sport.
The goal of this activity is to allow Pre-School students to start acquiring a taste for movement and physical activity from an early age, and to gain coordination and control of their bodies through sport, all adapted to the characteristics of their own age group.
    • Volleyball.
Cooperation and creating tactical strategies makes students develop the ability to help the weakest in achieving a common goal. Discipline is achieved by following the instructions given by the coach and by the nature of the game itself.
    • Football.
Playing football frequently is considered very beneficial, as it stimulates physical and cognitive development. But, above all, football is a team sport that can be enjoyable and instills educational values (respect, generosity, kindness, perseverance).
    • Basketball.
Basketball is a sport that favors coordination, greater concentration and  speed of reflexes. In addition it develops agility and locomotive abilities providing  stamina. Being a team sport, basketball encourages sociability, and helps students feel part of a group.
    • Judo.
This is a competitive sport which in 1964 was included in the Olympics for the first time. UNESCO has declared it the best sport for children from infancy to 14 years of age as it offers a complete education: developing psychomotor skills and relationships with others and using fun and games as key elements.
    • Gymnastics.
An activity which has been welcomed with great enthusiasm by our girls. In it, they elaborate on dances they have previously learnt and progressively educate the body. This sporting discipline does demand some body work, but is done in a fun way.
    • Robotics.
Robotics, taught in English, is a clear way of perfecting cognitive development, which complements other academic areas such as mathematics, communication skills or strategic thinking. Children are actively involved in their own learning process. This activity offers children opportunities to learn concepts in a fun and active way with a final reward: Playing with the robots they have built.
    • Classical Ballet.
Through ballet, personal growth, self-esteem and creative expression are all improved. As well as practising coordination, agility in movement and balance, students acquire an especially elegant way of moving their bodies and learn rules about order and discipline which they apply almost effortlessly in other settings, whether that be their studies or other activities.
    • Painting.
This activity aims to encourage the development of creativity and the capacity for self-expression in a fun way through learning about different materials and techniques such as charcoal drawing, watercolours, tempera painting, oil painting.
    • Choir.
The choir gives the opportunity to our students to work the voice in an activity that encourages discipline, perseverance, and endearing moments such as  singing in major school events.
    • Music.
The Mater Salvatoris School in collaboration with the School of Music Interpret offers its students the opportunity to realize and develop their musical vocation through the learning of an instrument.
    • Musical theatre.
Musical theater is the most complex theatrical part that combines the three disciplines: interpretation, singing and choreography. Thanks to the fusion of these three concepts, students learn to control their body and movements, in order to express any feeling and interpret different characters. Mater Salvatoris School in collaboration with the School of Music Interpret offers its students the opportunity to enjoy this activity.
    • Languages.
We live in a globalized world in which languages, such as English, French and German, have become not only a vehicle of communication, but are also necessary for studies and work.Mastering languages today is an essential requirement. At a time when there are no frontiers, Mater Salvatoris school offers its students the possibility to study languages more extensively during school hours but outside of the normal language class.

The objective is to enable our students to adapt to a society in which the option of studying abroad is becoming more usual.

That’s why we offer English, French and German.
